    Responsible for continuing development of public relations program in ACEJMC-accredited department offering BA and MS degrees. One of five sequences, public relations has approximately 120 undergraduate majors and about 20 graduate students in a program focused on management and research. In its summary report on USL, the ACEJMC accreditation team stated: "The public relations program is excellent. As it becomes better known, it will be a model for the field."

    1998: Winner of the 1998 Staley/Robeson/Ryan/St. Lawrence Prize for Research on Fund Raising and Philanthropy, presented by the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE), for 1998 book, Effective Fund-Raising Management.

    Biography selected to appear in: Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in the Southwest, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in Public Relations, and Who's Who in American Education, 1990 to 2000.

    1996: Elected to the College of Fellows of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for exceptional contributions to and performance in the field of public relations. The professional designation of APR, Fellow PRSA is held by fewer than 2% of the society's 19,000 members.

    Reappointed by the University of Southwestern Louisiana to an endowed professorship: the Hubert J. Bourgeois Research Professor in Communication.

    1995: Winner of 1995 "Pathfinder Award" for Best Recent Program of Public Relations Research, the Institute for Public Relations Research and Education, University of Florida, Gainsville.

    Recipient of 1995 and 1994 "Exceptional Service Awards" for national leadership contribution, PRSA.

    1994: Winner of 1994 "PRIDE Award" (Public Relations Innovation, Development and Educational Achievement) in the category of "Best Article," Public Relations Division of the National Communication Association (NCA). Only scholar to hold two of these awards for sole-author work, having won the 1991 PRIDE Award for "Best Book."

    Elected 1 of 13 members of the National Board, PRSA (1994-1996).

    1993: Appointed by the University of Southwestern Louisiana to the Hubert J. Bourgeois Research Professorship.
