Women in literature

Margery Kemp, possibly the world's first recognized female author, would never have suspected the extrordinary evolution of female authors to follow. Women now equal their counterparts in all aspects of literature. Women authors have, in this century, made their mark on the world by claiming such prestigious prizes as England's Booker Prize and America's National Book Award. Such victories have propelled women's literature into the bookstores, libraries, universities, and homes of millions throughout the world. Examine my reader responses to Frankenstein, Two Kinds, Love Medicine and The Story of an Hour to see examples of women in literature.
