In the third grade she learned the fundamentals of astronomy; each time she wrote a brief factual paragraph about a planet, she recieved a peanut. This small reward signified her surrender to scientific thought, a philosophy of domination. The mythical stories (the explanations for various natural phenomena), she had learned seemed disappointingly similar to the scientific reinterpretations of them.
