Welcome to Robin Koytcheff's home page!

I am currently an Associate Professor in the Math Department at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

You may also remember me from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (in Amherst, MA, where I was a Visiting Assistant Professor from 2015 to 2017), the University of Victoria (in Victoria, BC, Canada, where I was a PIMS Postdoctoral Fellow from 2013 to 2015), Brown University (in Providence, RI, where I was an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow from 2010 to 2013), Stanford University (in Stanford, CA, where I completed my PhD in 2010), or Columbia University (in New York, NY, where I earned a BS in Applied Math from SEAS in 2005, but took many courses in the Math Department). My research lies mostly in the area of topology. Non-experts may enjoy this article that I wrote to introduce knot theory (including some concepts related to my research) to high school students. Along similar lines are this animation involving the sphere and torus and this animation involving the projective plane, which I made for an introduction to my Math 435 class in Fall 2020. (You may need to open these files in an appropriate PDF viewer for the animations to work.) My research is currently supported by NSF grant DMS-2405370.

For my office hours, see the Teaching section.
