What is NAIT

What is NAIT?

The National Association of Industrial Technology, also know as NAIT, is the accreditation board for collegiate programs in the discipline of Industrial Technology. The organization's stated objective is "the promotion of Industrial Technology in business, industry, education and government". As of 2006 NAIT accredits 124 baccalaureate programs.

What is Industrial Technology?

Industrial Technology is a field of study designed to prepare technical and/or management oriented professionals for employment in business, industry, education, and government. Industrial Technology is primarily involved with the management, operation, and maintenance of complex technological systems while Engineering and Engineering Technology are primarily involved with the design and installation of these systems.

Why should I join NAIT?

There are many reasons students sign up as a NAIT member. Some of the obvious reasons include the desire to include it on a resume, participation on a NAIT student project, and to receive the Industrial Technology (IT) Insider. More importantly, membership (and especially attendance at the national convention which the student organization sponsors) is used to help students understand the purpose of industrial technology as compared to other disciplines. Students gain an appreciation for their education and learn what makes a person technologist as opposed to some other professional. Conventions, research and project involvement helps strengthen students' understanding of their technical/managerial field of study, making membership a capstone to their educational experience.
