Dr. Barbara C. Benson is an assistant professor in the Department of STEMs Transportation and Energy at South Louisiana Community College. She is also adjunct faculty at University of Louisiana (UL) at Lafayette, Louisiana where she mentors graduate students in research on algae production processes. She is a recognized expert in the field of growth of algae and photo-bioreactor engineering design and modeling. Her research interests include environmental engineering for algae based bio-fuel production.

Dr. Yadong Li has 20 years of teaching and research experiences in the areas of environmental sciences and engineering with special research interests in environmental impacts of emerging contaminants. He has successfully managed nearly one million dollar worth of research projects as the PI including the NSF CAREER Award for the Study of E-waste Environmental Hazards and Treatment (2003-2008, $400,400).

Dr. Khattak has over 15 years of combined research, teaching experience in the areas of transportation materials characterization, numerical modeling, nondestructive testing, advance pavement design, and management and pavement performance modeling.

Dr. Chunyan

Chunyan Li, PhD

Dr. Li is a physical oceanographer and faculty in the School of the Coast and Environment at LSU. He is the director of WAVCIS, part of the US IOOS (Integrated Ocean Observing System). His recent research interest has been estuarine circulation and transport, storm surges, weather induced water motion in estuaries, bays and continental shelf, real time observing systems, application of automated observing platforms, and innovative observations. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers, awarded outstanding faculty teaching award, and raised more than 10 million external funds.
